No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist at FxM in Innaloo. You can book directly with us. A referral is only required if you are claiming under Medicare, workers’ compensation, or motor vehicle accident (MVA) schemes.
At your first appointment, your physiotherapist will take a detailed history, assess your movement and injury, explain the findings, and create a personalised treatment plan. You’ll usually receive hands-on treatment and a tailored exercise program to start your recovery right away.
If you are a new patient then an initial consult will provide us enough time to better understand your concerns and create an appropriate plan. An initial consult would also be required if you are an existing client with a new injury.

Most claims made for physiotherapy appointment will be through a private health fund. We can make a direct claim for you using HiCaps.
If your doctor has completed the appropriate paperwork and placed you on an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan or Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan then you will be eligible for up to 5 appointments with a small gap to pay by you.
Yes. Physiotherapy is highly effective for sports injuries. At Function Matters Physio, we treat common injuries in swimming, water polo, running, and other sports, focusing on both hands-on therapy and exercise rehabilitation to get you back to peak performance.
Yes. We support workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident (MVA) clients. We provide treatment, exercise rehabilitation, and return-to-work programs. Please bring your referral and claim number so we can bill your insurer directly.
Yes, NDIS participants can access our services if they are self-managed or plan-managed. We are not a registered provider for agency-managed participants. Our physiotherapists will work with you to set goals, provide treatment, and create home programs that align with your NDIS plan.
We treat a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, sports injuries, shoulder and knee problems, vestibular and vertigo issues, concussion care including the Buffalo Treadmill Test, workplace injuries, and post-surgery rehabilitation. Each program is tailored to your individual goals.
Yes, we provide physiotherapy for children and teens, especially for sports injuries and postural concerns.
We are located in Innaloo, conveniently close to Osborne Park, Scarborough, Doubleview, Woodlands, Gwelup and Karrinyup. Our clinic is easily accessible with free parking available on-site.
We do have a 24 hour cancellation policy which if not adhered to, the entirety of the bill can be invoiced. We understand that life can be unpredictable and we really don't wish to penalise our patients for that. Please phone us as soon as your circumstances change so we can assist you.
